Basics of the Christian Faith
Pastor Todd Arnold
Upstairs Conference Room

What does it mean to be a Christian?  How does trusting in Jesus assure for me an everlasting life with God?  Just what is a Lutheran Christian anyway?  What's the significance of baptism and communion?  This 12 week class will give you the basics of the Christian teachings.  Those who complete the class will be invited to become members at West Portal Lutheran Church but will be under no obligation to do so.

The Book of Mark
A Bible Study for Women
Ruth Stresow - Church Library

Issues and Topics
Ed Proehl - Janssen Hall, Room #3

Through videos, text and discussion, the class will examine, from a Christian perspective, issues that affect and challenge Christian beliefs.  We will be examining the effect and influence of the media - magazines, movies, books, and technology - upon the Church, theology and individuals.   Watch the Service bulletin for the current topic.

The Gospel of Luke
Stephen Spitz - Fellowship Hall

Each gospel delivers the Good News with its own style and special emphasis.  Luke, writing as a historian, records the inclusion of all people in God's Kingdom, gentiles as well as Jews.  Luke underscores, moreover, that the Good News is for everyone, including those of lesser standing in the society of his day: the poor, the sick and women.  This class will read and study together the Gospel of Luke from beginning to end.

The Attributes of Jesus
Martin Moore - Janssen Hall, Room #6
