Basics of the Christian
Faith What does it mean to be a Christian? How does trusting in Jesus assure for me an everlasting life with God? Just what is a Lutheran Christian anyway? What's the significance of baptism and communion? This 12 week class will give you the basics of the Christian teachings. Those who complete the class will be invited to become members at West Portal Lutheran Church but will be under no obligation to do so.
Through videos, text and
discussion, the class will examine, from a Christian perspective, issues that affect and
challenge Christian beliefs. We will be examining the effect and influence of the
media - magazines, movies, books, and technology - upon the Church, theology and individuals. Watch
the Service bulletin for the current topic.

Luke underscores, moreover, that the Good News is for everyone, including those of lesser standing in the society of his day: the poor, the sick and women. This class will read and study together the Gospel of Luke from beginning to end. The Attributes of Jesus
